Pan-Mass Challenge

Founded in 1980, the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through an annual bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The PMC has successfully melded support from committed cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors, donating almost $550 million since its inception. With 100 percent of rider-raised funds going directly to the Jimmy Fund, the PMC has raised more money than any other athletic fundraising event in the country. The hope and aspiration of the PMC is to provide Dana-Farber’s doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers.

Scargo Hill Principal Mark Gallivan has been an active fundraiser and rider in the PMC since 2009, following the passing of a close friend’s father. Participating in the bike-a-thon each year provides him with a wonderful opportunity to honor those who have lost their courageous battle with cancer and encourage and support those who are currently receiving treatment.
